Khartoum: Sudan and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group have signed a roadmap at the conclusion of talks held in Jeddah, aimed at strengthening cooperation and addressing Sudan's outstanding arrears. State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Al-Daem, signed the roadmap on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the talks between the Sudanese government delegation and the IsDB Group were held in Jeddah from August 24 to 27, 2026. The meetings included discussions with the Group's two Vice Presidents to review the outcomes of the talks and explore ways to support Sudan's recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The roadmap aims to continue technical work and consultations to reach a practical and sustainable settlement of the arrears before the end of 2026, paving the way for the resumption and strengthening of development cooperation.
The talks also addressed technical assistance, capacity building, private-sector development, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, digital transformation, recovery and reconstruction, as well as a proposal to establish a trust fund for Sudan's reconstruction.
Both sides affirmed that the next phase would see an expansion of Sudan's access to the programmes and instruments of the IsDB Group, supporting the country's economic and development priorities and its recovery and reconstruction efforts.
