State Minister for Finance Meets WHO Mission Head in Sudan

Khartoum: The State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daem, met on Thursday evening with the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Mission in Sudan, Dr. Shibli Mohamed Sebhan.

According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting focused on rehabilitating health infrastructure damaged by the war and providing essential medical equipment. The minister expressed hope that WHO would play a significant role in restoring health services across the country. The discussion also addressed the operational costs of projects funded by international and regional development institutions.

Dr. Sebhan expressed his pleasure at the meeting, noting that it covered numerous issues related to the health sector. He also briefed the minister on outcomes from his meeting with the WHO Regional Director in Addis Ababa, which addressed localizing medicine production in Sudan, securing financing, and deploying experts in the field.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance coordination between the Ministries of Finance and Health and WHO through regular meetings and report exchanges. The minister thanked WHO for its initiative to establish a national laboratory in Port Sudan, emphasizing the need for joint efforts between Sudan and WHO to advance the country's health sector.
