Khartoum: State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdeldaim, met on Friday evening with UN Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Xu Haoliang. The meeting centered on discussing the role of the United Nations in supporting Sudan's post-war recovery and reconstruction efforts, along with necessary policies and programs to tackle prevailing challenges.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister emphasized the necessity for UN agencies to contribute to the restoration of essential services and provide humanitarian aid during this critical period. He also urged support for developing public financial systems, expanding clean energy infrastructure, promoting digital transformation, and securing international financing to foster economic growth.
The minister mentioned that the government has devised a detailed post-war recovery and reconstruction plan with input from key stakeholders and UN organizations. He also pointed out the Ministry of Finance's progress in implementing digital transformation initiatives to improve transparency, governance, and financial system development.
Xu Haoliang expressed his commitment to intensifying efforts and enhancing coordination to deliver economic support to Sudan.
