Rebel Force Defects to Sudanese Armed Forces

Khartoum:North Darfur: A force previously allied with the Sudan Liberation Forces Grouping, led by rebel leader Taher Abubakr Hajar, has announced its defection from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to join the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

According to Sudan News Agency, the force, under the command of Mohamadain Ismail Abu Zira, was welcomed at the Al-Tina front in North Darfur State along with all its military equipment. The group consists of 106 fighters, including 18 officers, and is equipped with several combat vehicles.

Abu Zira explained that the decision to align with the Armed Forces was made after recognizing the threat posed by the militia to the country's unity, security, and safety, as well as to the stability of the Darfur Region and the well-being of its citizens.

The forces led by Abu Zira are set to join the Armed Forces in operations aimed at liberating areas still under rebel control, advancing from the western front. He emphasized their commitment to eliminating the militia to ensure Sudan's stability, unity, and sovereignty.
