Prime Minister Urges University Professors to Aid in National Development

Port Sudan: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has called on university professors to contribute their ideas and academic expertise to the country’s renaissance and development, noting the professors’ ability to bring about the positive and desired change in the nation’s development. The Prime Minister met with a delegation of university professors at his office in Port Sudan on Tuesday, where they discussed a number of national and university issues, as well as the progress of higher education in the country.

According to Sudan News Agency, in press statements, the Secretary-General of the Sudanese University Professors’ Organization, Professor Mahjoub Mohamed Ahmed, affirmed the university professors’ support for the Prime Minister’s modern approach to building the state based on scientific foundations in planning and scientific research. He revealed the Prime Minister’s call to hold an inclusive meeting of all university professors to tighten coordination.

Mahjoub said that professors have joined forces, in response to the Prime Minister’s directives, to work toward the gradual reopening of universities, particularly those in Khartoum State. He noted that professors within the Sudanese University Professors’ Organization have already begun the process of intellectual and psychological development, and are now moving into the physical reconstruction of universities.
