Prime Minister Kamil Idris Reviews Damage to Power Stations Following Rebel Attacks

Khartoum:Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Energy to repair damage inflicted on several power stations due to systematic attacks by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The targeted facilities include Al-Hawata, Al-Junaid, Mashhour, Al-Fau, and Al-Markhiyat power stations. The primary aim is to restore electricity as promptly as possible.

According to Sudan News Agency, the review took place during a meeting on Tuesday with Minister of Energy Engineer Al-Motasem Ibrahim Ahmed and Director-General of Sudan Electricity Holding Company Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed.

The meeting discussed a specific attack on Al-Markhiyat substation that occurred early Tuesday morning. The attack was carried out by RSF suicide drones, causing extensive damage and rendering the station inoperative. The technical consequences of this attack have affected large areas, leaving Khartoum State, River Nile State, and several other states without electricity.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the damage sustained by other power stations such as Al-Hawata, Al-Junaid, Mashkour, and Al-Fao. This damage has significantly undermined the stability of electricity supplies across the national grid. Efforts are ongoing to assess all damage to Al-Markhiyat substation to enable immediate repairs and necessary technical interventions to restore normal electricity services as quickly as possible.
