Khartoum: Engineer Osman Mirghani, a member of the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Committee, stated that the current mission of the committee is to lay the groundwork for dialogue and establish the necessary conditions for its initiation, emphasizing that discussing the dialogue's specifics before completing consultations with the relevant Sudanese parties would be premature.
According to Sudan News Agency, during the committee's press conference held on Sunday at Al-Salam Rotana Hotel, Mirghani elaborated that the committee's role is primarily preparatory. He highlighted that attempting to determine specifics such as participants, agenda, and duration at this stage could interfere with the committee's intended mandate.
Mirghani announced that following the press conference, the committee would engage in direct consultations with political and community forces, along with relevant international actors involved in Sudanese affairs. The aim is to overcome 'the first hurdle,' which is achieving a consensus among Sudan's political and community elements on the principle of dialogue.
He further mentioned that the format of the dialogue, including its start and end dates, agenda, participating parties, and other details, would be resolved through consultations with Sudanese political and community forces.
Mirghani reiterated that the committee does not intend to impose a predefined vision of the dialogue. Instead, it seeks to enable Sudanese people to reach a mutual agreement on the dialogue mechanism, its participants, agenda, and outcomes.
