Minister of Animal Resources Pushes for Enhanced Livestock Export Infrastructure

Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed El-Tijani El-Mansouri met on Tuesday at the Ministry's headquarters with the High Committee for the Rehabilitation of Livestock Production Cities, chaired by Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the committee's efforts and the progress made in carrying out the tasks assigned to it by the Ministry. The committee's primary objective is to prepare the infrastructure required for exporting Sudanese meat to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Professor El-Mansouri expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and called for accelerating efforts and intensifying work to implement the important project. He emphasized that rehabilitating livestock production cities is a top priority for the coming period in order to support and increase Sudanese meat exports to Saudi Arabia and GCC countries.

Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed said the committee is currently working to meet all technical and health requirements set by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. She noted that the committee had reviewed and assessed laboratories certified under ISO 17025, describing them as the 'gateway to exports' and a guarantee of quality for Sudanese animal products.

She added that the committee had also conducted field visits to Northern State and River Nile State to assess conditions at several livestock production cities and determine the requirements needed to rehabilitate them in accordance with internationally approved export standards and requirements.
