Livestock Minister Engages with River Nile State Leaders on New Sector Initiatives

River nile state: Minister of Animal Resources Dr. Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri visited River Nile State on Saturday, where he met with State Wali Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid Abu Goron in Al-Damer, in the presence of livestock sector officials and leaders in the state. The visit aimed to review the performance of the livestock sector and discuss the establishment of the Livestock Production City project. According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister emphasized that this strategic project is expected to advance the livestock sector, support the national economy, make use of all animal by-products, combat smuggling, and prevent the waste of livestock resources. He praised the state government, led by the State Wali, for its commitment to the livestock sector and support in enabling the sector to contribute effectively to the economy and production cycle. The Wali of River Nile State expressed his appreciation for the minister's visit and reiterated the state government's focus on the livestock sector as a crucial component of the economy. He highlighted the state's advantages, such as being free of animal diseases and its strategic location near export gateways like Atbara Airport and Port Sudan. The state government plans to enhance export infrastructure, including the expansion of Atbara Airport and the development of the dry port in Atbara. Furthermore, the Wali stressed the importance of focusing on agriculture and livestock, along with agro-processing and manufacturing, as a means to address the country's current economic challenges by adding value to the state's products. He welcomed the proposed Livestock Production City and assured his government's support for its implementation. The minister's visit will continue over several days, during which he will tour various livestock facilities and sites across localities to identify and address issues in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
