Krishan invites expatriate investors to invest in Jordan’s governorates

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration, Tawfiq Krishan, called on expatriate investors to launch investment projects outside of the capital, which are available in the Kingdom's governorates, and seize various incentives and availability of laborforce and land at "affordable" cost. During his participation Sunday, in the second day of the Eighth Conference of Jordanian Expatriate Businessmen and Investors, Krishan said Jordan enjoys a "unique" state of security and safety regionally, which is the basis for the success of investment. Addressing a session titled "Sustainable Development in Governorates," he noted municipalities are a "key" sector to support investment in Jordan's various regions and achieve development by granting licenses to companies, investors and provincial councils. Krishan referred to multiple investment projects available in the Kingdom's municipalities, adding that a decision was taken to launch and implement investment project in partnership with the private sector. 40% of the provincial councils' budget was allocated to investment development projects, he noted. He said Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) encourages investment of all kinds to advance economic development, create job opportunities and overcome investor challenges. The government, he said, approved a package of laws and legislation aimed at providing incentives and benefits to stimulate establishment of investment projects. According to Krishan, the comprehensive plan will soon be launched in northern Ajloun Governorate to be a tourist area, and will then be implemented to the Kingdom's various regions. Krishan added that the scheme will also be launched in Amman's Naour region ahead of end of 2023, which defines land uses and nature of investments. He also referred to multiple "entrepreneurial" projects by municipalities in Jordan's various governorates in cooperation with the World Bank, primarily sectors of aquaculture, foodstuff industries, clothing, sewing, and heritage markets in Ajloun and Jerash.
