Khartoum: Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim met with Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General. The meeting reviewed the United Nations’ efforts regarding Sudan and ways to coordinate efforts to achieve peace. They also discussed the overall humanitarian situation in Sudan and means of supporting the most affected groups, mainly in the city of El-Fashir.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minister Salim reaffirmed Sudan’s confidence in the major role played by the United Nations and the attention given by the UN Secretary-General to the Sudanese crisis. He expressed his hope for the continuation of these efforts, stressing the Sudanese government’s appreciation for these endeavors.
For his part, the UN envoy reiterated the United Nations’ firm position on the Sudanese crisis and the need to exert efforts to stop the war and begin a phase of recovery and reconstruction of what the war has vandalized.
