Finance Minister Commends Customs Forces for Seizing Smuggled Gold in River Nile State

River Nile State: Finance Minister and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, alongside the Wali of River Nile State Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, reviewed a significant gold smuggling interception by customs forces, carried out by the Anti-Smuggling Unit in River Nile State.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister praised the customs forces for preventing the smuggling of 312 pieces of gold, weighing approximately 142 kilograms, along with the seizure of one Kalashnikov rifle. The operation marked a significant achievement in safeguarding the national economy.

Acting Director General of Customs Forces Maj. Gen. (Police) Babiker Youssef Babiker recognized the dedication of the Anti-Smuggling Forces in combating smuggling activities, emphasizing the importance of such operations in protecting the national economy. He highlighted that this seizure is part of the ongoing efforts by customs forces to tackle smuggling in all its forms.

Assistant Director General for Combating Smuggling, Maj. Gen. (Police) Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, praised the high professionalism demonstrated by the forces involved in the operation. He underscored the need to intensify efforts against the smuggling of strategic resources and to continue preemptive actions against smuggling networks.

Director of the Anti-Smuggling Unit in River Nile State, Brig. Gen. (Police) Adam Omar Sabil, detailed that the operation was successful due to precise intelligence and continuous monitoring of the smugglers’ activities. He stressed the importance of maintaining long and short patrols and enhancing security at all ports to prevent smuggling activities that threaten the national economy.
