Darfur Governor Claims Conspiracy to Silence Sudan at UN Assembly

Khartoum:Governor of the Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, stated that the decision to prevent Sudan from addressing the United Nations General Assembly could have significant consequences. General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, was originally scheduled to speak on behalf of Sudan, but the address did not occur.

According to Sudan News Agency, Minawi, speaking at Khartoum Airport after returning from New York where he attended the UN General Assembly as part of Sudan's delegation, accused certain countries and organizations of conspiring to prevent Sudan from communicating with the international community.

Minawi noted that despite being silenced in formal settings, the Sudanese people made their voices heard through demonstrations in American cities, outside the United Nations headquarters, and in front of the UN Security Council.

He highlighted that Sudan's address was ultimately delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, praising the efforts of Ambassador Al-Harith and the diplomatic mission in Washington for ensuring Sudan's voice reached the international stage.

Minawi emphasized that powerful nations are attempting to suppress the Sudanese people, who are determined to resist such efforts. He asserted that many international communities support Sudan in its struggle.

He further claimed that some parties are obscuring the truth from the US administration. Minawi clarified that Sudan is against those obscuring the facts, affirming that there is no antagonism between Sudan and the United States.
