Burhan: Armed Forces Remain Sudan’s Safeguard

Atbara: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, accompanied by General Mirghani Idris, Director-General of the Defence Industries System, today offered condolences to the family of the late Lieutenant Colonel Muzammil Abdullah Mirghani Zarrouq in Atbara, Nile River Nile State, who was martyred in Al-Fashir.

According to Sudan News Agency, the TSC President said the Armed Forces have continued to pay the price in martyrs in order to preserve the country’s gains, unity, sovereignty, and security, noting the role and sacrifices of the armed forces and the supporting forces in safeguarding the nation.

Al-Burhan affirmed that the killing of Lieutenant Colonel Muzammil Abdullah in Al-Fashir carries many important implications that reflect the cohesion and strong bonds of the Sudanese people, stressing that the Armed Forces will remain the country’s safeguard against its enemies.

His Excellency also expressed his condolences to the native administration leaderships who were killed yesterday in Al-Mazroub area, saying that ‘we send a message to anyone who claims the Armed Forces have specific targets or are against certain tribes: the Armed Forces do not target tribes or specific areas; their aim is to confront the enemy. We will continue to fight and confront the enemy wherever it is found.’

The TSC President added that ‘we will not renege on our pledge, nor will we negotiate with any party for the sake of negotiation alone, whether the Quartet or others. We are ready to negotiate what serves Sudan, ends the war, restores the country’s dignity and unity, and removes the prospect of further rebellion.’

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stressed that those who genuinely seek peace and put the interests of the Sudanese people first are welcome; however, imposing peace or a government on a people who reject it will not be accepted. ‘The blood of the martyrs is precious and honorable, and we will continue on the path toward achieving peace.’
