Arab League Secretary-General Engages in Talks on Sudanese Crisis at UN Assembly

New York:Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has revealed that discussions on the Sudanese crisis were a significant focus during his participation in the United Nations General Assembly meetings. These discussions included consultations with various heads of state, senior officials, and foreign ministers.

According to Sudan News Agency, Fahmy highlighted Sudan's resilience, noting that despite the crisis, the country's longstanding institutions have shown continuity. The return of approximately five million internally displaced persons and refugees to Khartoum and surrounding areas has increased the state's responsibilities to provide essential services and ensure conditions for a safe and sustainable return to normal life.

Fahmy emphasized that any lasting resolution to the crisis must respect Sudan's sovereignty and territorial unity while supporting the national identity and state institutions. He warned against any efforts to undermine these institutions or create parallel entities.

He stressed the need for a multifaceted approach to end the conflict, address humanitarian needs, initiate a political process, and manage the polarization caused by the war. Fahmy reaffirmed the Arab League's commitment to working with Sudan and international partners to stop the war and facilitate an inclusive political process aimed at achieving peace and stability in Sudan.
