Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, emphasized the significant role of the livestock sector as a renewable resource contributing to economic development. He advocated for the establishment of livestock production cities to bolster the sector's impact on the national economy during the annual coordination meeting of state livestock directors.According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting, held under the theme 'Towards Healthy, Productive and Sustainable Livestock,' was organized by the General Directorate of Animal Health and Epidemic Control. It convened directors from various livestock departments across the states and ministry directorates at the Extension Hall in Khartoum from September 9 to 10. Al-Mansouri underscored the need for enhanced coordination between federal and state levels and a combined effort to advance veterinary health services and control transboundary diseases, aiming to fulfill the sector's objectives.Director-General of Animal H ealth and Epidemic Control, Dr. Nadia Al-Dirdiri, noted that this gathering marked the first in four years to unite representatives from all Sudanese states. She highlighted the meeting's potential in aiding the prevention and management of transboundary diseases, acknowledging the support from organizations like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in fortifying the sector through improved veterinary services.
