Al-Gezira State Wali Urges Action to Expose RSF Human Rights Violations

Khartoum: Al-Gezira State Wali Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair has urged the National Human Rights Mechanism at the Ministry of Justice to document violations and expose the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on an international stage. The Wali emphasized the critical need to highlight the extent of the human rights violations committed by the militia within the state.According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Khair's remarks came during a meeting at the Guest House in Wad Madani with a delegation led by Yasser Sayed Ahmed from the National Human Rights Mechanism. During the meeting, Al-Khair expressed strong support for establishing a specialized human rights workshop in the state aimed at facilitating documentation efforts. He highlighted that Al-Gezira is one of the states most adversely affected by militia attacks, which have targeted innocent civilians.Al-Khair pointed out a pattern of atrocities, including looting, pillaging, displacement, rape, extrajudicial killings, and forced marriages, affecting various citi es and villages such as Al-Hilaliya, Wad Al-Noura, Azraq, Al-Sireiha, Al-Radma, and Asir. These areas have witnessed what he described as crimes against humanity, underscoring the need for immediate international attention.The Head of the National Human Rights Mechanism praised the resilience of the Al-Gezira State Government and its ongoing efforts to rebuild, restore normalcy, and foster community development amidst significant challenges. He noted that the visit aligns with preparations for the fourth national report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism. In a strategic move, he announced plans to establish subsidiary human rights mechanisms in all states to ensure thorough monitoring of violations and to project the national perspective to the global community.
